I was heavily influenced by visual culture, and it has had a heavy influence in my artwork. I earned a BFA in drawing with a secondary emphasis in Mesoamerican studies in 2007. Likewise, I earned my MFA from Boise State University in 2011. Artist Statement Utilizing various mixed mediums I envision my culture through the lense as a liminal figure navigating the spaces in between two worlds that I encompass and the language as it has evolved over time. A concept that I am interested in is how passed languages in a pictorial form translate into todays lexicon of meaning. I envision pictorial forms of language in Mexican culture, such as an inscription on a stelae written in Mayan logoglyphic form, and conceptualize the intent of that form juxtaposed into todays logo form of graffiti.
